Is it illegal to carry a knife around in my pocket?

Usually, the possession of a knife in a public area is an offense in most countries. As every country has its own set of knife legislation rules that people must follow.

It depends where you are living, and you must have proper knowledge of the law for knives of your country.

Like in the USA, knife laws change from state to state, some allow knives with a maximum of 3-inch blades length, but states like texas will enable you to have short swords which you can carry publicly.

Fortunately, laws in south Africa about carrying a knife are not so strict.

 We are actually lucky that we do not have the same level of restrictions that some countries have. As we donot have specific laws relating to knives (every day carries EDC), we do have the Dangerous Weapons Act 15 of 2013, which covers blades, knives and but it officially came into force on 2 January 2014.
